WhatsApp's payment service WhatsApp Pay which is under beta testing is said to be launched in upcoming months. The instant messaging app which is owned by Facebook has been struggling to launch over the time. The Payment service is said to launched initially in partnership with three private bank, namely  Axis Bank,ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank.Earlier it was reported that National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has granted the permission to start it's payment services in India.
"We are continuing to work with the government so that we can provide access to payments on WhatsApp to all of our users. Payments on WhatsApp will help accelerate digital payments and this is particularly important during Covid-19 as it is a safer way to transact for our 400 million users in India," WhatsApp spokesperson told Moneycontrol.
WhatsApp Pay will be a huge competitor against Amazon Pay,Google Pay,PhonePe and Paytm.Since the instant messaging app already has over 400 million users in India, it's payment service could make a things tougher for all the existing candidates in the market.
